Do you get confused with cruciate surgery? Agonising over orthopaedics? Try to avoid being a part of the rota?

Cruciate surgery is one of the most common orthopaedic surgeries carried out in practice daily. It can make a large difference to our patients and their owners. The success of these procedures is not reliant on just the veterinary surgeon, as the veterinary nurse plays a key part in the patient's care. Veterinary nurses are also vital for the data collection and internal audit through the RCVS Knowledge's Canine Cruciate Registry.

This session will go through how to run a smooth cruciate surgery, increase your confidence, and improve communication within your theatre team.

Learning Outcomes

  • Increase confidence with running cruciate surgeries in practice.
  • Put processes in place to create a smoother surgical experience for the team and the patient
  • Understand how veterinary nurse can get involved with the Canine Cruciate Registry
