Welcome bursary recipients!
15 December 2015
It’s important to us that all members of the veterinary profession should be able to access our events, we were delighted to offer 23 bursaries to veterinary students and veterinary nurses for our 2015 EBVM Skills Day in October in London.
The bursaries awarded to veterinary students provided a ticket to Skills Day and reimbursement of travel costs for attending the event. As part of the award, our successful applicants will complete a Knowledge Summary using the new EBVM Learning resource- which was launched at our event.
Our bursary recipients included 10 members of staff from the veterinary nurse department of Harper Adams University, whose attendance was made possible by sponsorship from Vets4Pets & Companion Care. RCVS Knowledge funded bursaries to 10 veterinary nurses who were part of the EBVM network, and 4 bursaries to veterinary students from the University of Bristol and University of Zurich.
We awarded these bursaries as part of our ongoing grants and awards programme, which
celebrates achievement, and builds new knowledge that contributes to evidence-based veterinary medicine and other projects. See a full list of our awards made.
The aim of our Grants Programme is to support projects which contribute to:
Past Knowledge: Investigating the history of the profession, disseminating its triumphs and achievements and the pathway through which it has achieved its current position in society.
Present Knowledge: Supporting access to current scientific and technical knowledge of direct use to practising veterinary surgeon and veterinary nurses.
Future Knowledge: Helping to integrate new evidence-based research into veterinary practice, namely through projects that contribute to evidence-based practice, and particularly Knowledge Summaries.
As part of our on-going commitment to ensuring that EBVM reaches everyone in the profession, we plan to offer bursaries at our next major event Veterinary Evidence Today in November 2016.
