Flexible working options with a minimum of two days per week in the central London office.
Job purpose
The purpose of the Publishing and Information Assistant is to provide editorial and administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the Veterinary Evidence Journal and to support library and information service operations and projects. This position is vital to ensure the regular publication of scientific articles to a high standard and the timely delivery of evidence-based resources to library users.

Key responsibilities
Editorial and publishing process:
- Respond to and process pre-submission queries about potential new articles and ensure internal records are updated accurately.
- Assist with selected tasks in the journal’s editorial process, including technical checks on submissions, managing the peer review process, and keeping authors informed about the status of their papers.
- Assist with copyediting, typesetting, and publishing accepted papers.
- Working with the Assistant Editor, ensure the journal meets its publishing targets by providing regular updates and by communicating with Associate Editors, peer reviewers, and authors as needed.
- Support the commissioning and publication of Audio Summaries and other content for post-publication dissemination.
Library and information services
- Assist with the publication process of inFOCUS, RCVS Knowledge’s journal watch.
- Assist with the administration and delivery of library services.
General
- Build and maintain relationships with authors, reviewers, editors, and other collaborators.
- Assist with the implementation and development of new systems, processes, and initiatives.
- Help organise and take minutes at meetings.
- Provide project support to other teams within RCVS Knowledge.
- Other duties as required and commensurate with the post but not described above.

Education and/or experience
Required:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong customer focus.
Desired:
- Knowledge of peer review and journal publishing processes.
- Knowledge of library or information services.
- Experience in working with scientific or technical content.
- Experience in website content management.
- Experience in working via email with a range of professionals.
