RCVS Knowledge Awards for 2025 now open for applications

8 July 2024

We are delighted to announce the opening of applications for the 2025 RCVS Knowledge Awards, which this year feature new categories to encompass the breadth of Quality Improvement (QI) work being carried out across the veterinary sector.

Applicants can apply to the following awards:

QI in Practice showcases the implementation of recognised QI techniques that contribute to better outcomes, better care and better learning.

Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) highlights practical examples where teams are improving responsible antimicrobial prescribing using QI methods.

Education in QI recognises organisations and educators who can demonstrate how they are teaching recognised QI methods.

QI to Lead Organisational Change celebrates organisations using recognised QI methods to develop and embed frameworks and structures that aim to drive measurable improvements for patients and teams.

The awards are open to applications from organisations and practice teams across the UK and include applications covering all species.

Katie Mantell, Chief Executive Officer, said, “We’re really excited to launch the RCVS Knowledge Awards 2025, and to expand the categories we cover to reflect a broader range of QI projects. The awards are an opportunity to celebrate and showcase the fantastic work that vet teams across the UK are doing to use recognised QI techniques for their patients, clients, businesses, and for the experiences of the teams who provide the care. I can’t wait to see the applications we receive this year.”

Applications are open until 10 January 2025.

Each RCVS Knowledge Award category will have three winners: a first, second and third place.

1st place winners will receive: a £300 prize, award plaque, certificates and badges as well as the opportunity to work with us to promote their project and attend a prestigious awards ceremony.

2nd place winners: a £250 prize, certificates and badges and the chance to work with us to promote their project.

3rd place winners: a £200 prize, certificates and badges and the chance to work with us to promote their project.

In each category, in addition to the prize winners, there will also be runners up. Highly commended runners up have showcased excellent examples of QI but did not win in 1st, 2nd or 3rd place. Highly commended ones-to-watch were able to show that they have laid strong foundations for QI, but have not yet been able to complete a full audit cycle and are at the start of their QI journey.
