A Groundbreaking Step in Veterinary Medicine

Every year, cranial cruciate ligament injuries affect 1 in 200 dogs in the UK — making it one of the leading causes of lameness. While surgery is often the go-to solution, there is a lack of data on which techniques work best. That’s where the RCVS Knowledge Canine Cruciate Registry (CCR) can help.

What Is the CCR?

The CCR is the first registry of its kind in veterinary care, created by RCVS Knowledge in partnership with veterinary professionals and dog owners. It collects data through a series of questionnaires completed by both surgeons and pet owners — tracking each dog’s journey from surgery through long-term recovery. The registry is free to both vets and dog owners.

Why It Matters

By gathering real-world data, the CCR can help to:

  • Identify which surgical techniques deliver the best outcomes.
  • Empower veterinary professionals to audit their own complication rates and receive long-term outcome updates on their patients.
  • Highlight potential complications.
  • Support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Improve communication between vets and dog owners.
  • Raise the standard of care for dogs across the UK and beyond.

Get Involved

Whether you're a veterinary surgeon or a dog owner, your input is vital. Join the CCR today and be part of a movement to transform canine care.
