Canine Cruciate Registry - save the date!

Please save the date for the launch event of our Canine Cruciate Registry on Wednesday 28 July 2021 at 7pm. We are planning a special virtual event featuring expert speakers from both veterinary and human medicine. 

The event will introduce the registry and demonstrate how we hope it can be used to improve outcomes and monitor complications with cruciate surgery. 

Speakers

Clinical Lead of the Canine Cruciate Registry, Mark Morton (RCVS Specialist Small Animal Orthopaedics, ChesterGates Veterinary Specialists), will be joined by some great speakers from around the world. Dr Stanley Kim (Associate Professor in Small Animal Surgery, College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Florida) will present his work on stifle stability and the effect on outcomes post cruciate surgery. Professor Duncan Lascelles (Professor of Translational Pain Research and Management, North Carolina State University) will discuss how we can assess clinical outcomes in canine patients. We also welcome Mr Mike McNicholas (Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon) who as well being a renowned knee surgeon, is a member of the steering group for the UK National Ligament Registry and Chair of ICRS Global Cartilage Treatment Registry. He will share experiences from human orthopaedic surgery and the benefits of registries in improving patient outcomes. 

About the Canine Cruciate Registry

The Canine Cruciate Registry is the first of its kind in veterinary medicine. It is open to any vet in the UK, performing any technique. Through gathering data on cruciate surgery techniques and implants, we will be able to evaluate which techniques lead to improved patient care. The more data we can gather, the better informed we can be. We welcome you to join us at this event to hear how your participation in the Canine Cruciate Registry can benefit your patients. 

This event is open to all vets, nurses and the wider practice team. Even if you are not performing cruciate surgery, please join us to hear how this project can help with decision making around cruciate surgery.
