Trust launches new grants round

The RCVS Charitable Trust is now offering new grants to support a variety of projects and resources that contribute towards research and education – from student level to experienced practitioners and researchers.

Trust Director, Cherry Bushell, comments: “These grants are a core part of our ambition to invest in veterinary discovery, knowledge and aspiration. We hope to attract applications for particularly innovative and engaging projects.”

The awards are available for up to 12 months from the award date, and awards cannot be made for projects taking place before 31 October 2011.
New grants available include:
EMS Awards
Up to 10 EMS vacation scholarship awards worth around £500 each.
The awards are open to students who choose to undertake clinical research, as well as those opting for lab-based projects.
They are available for up to 12 months from the award date, and can be applied for by students themselves or supervisors/mentors on their behalf, mainly to cover living costs and travel expenses for EMS.
Eligible candidates are veterinary undergraduate students at UK veterinary schools in the third year and above.
Travel Awards
Offering up to 10 grants worth around £500 each, to support UK veterinary surgeons who are looking to pursue themes of clinical or non-clinical research involving short-term visits to veterinary or medical centres, or research institutes, outside the UK.
The Travel Awards are open to registered members of the RCVS, as well as to candidates registered for a PhD at a UK veterinary school.
The successful candidates will be asked to submit an article to the veterinary press and provide the Trust with a diary record including photographs, and/or short video.
Spencer-Hill Equipment Grants
As part of a range of dedicated grants to celebrate a landmark year for the veterinary nursing profession, our equipment awards are dedicated to veterinary nurse training in 2011.
The Trust is offering up to 5 grants of up to £5,000 each to purchase equipment which is directly used for training in care and treatment of animals.
All RCVS-accredited UK veterinary nurse training centres are eligible.
