RCVS Trust to make major strategic investment in veterinary undergraduate and postgraduate education
25 September 2004
The RCVS Trust is poised to continue its strategic investment in innovative and high-calibre research and animal welfare projects in the UK and overseas.
Implementation of its recently approved five-year grant-making strategy will see the Trust inject almost £1.3m over the next three years into a comprehensive range of educational programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Gerri McHugh, Director of the Trust, said, "We are delighted to launch this new programme of grants which represents a step-change in the Trust's grant-making activity.
"Key features of this new round include a £750,000 programme of Residencies in production animal medicine, canine studies and other disciplines of veterinary medicine, and a Blue Sky research programme to enable veterinarians to explore and test innovative ideas for the advancement of veterinary science and animal care and welfare."
These initiatives will be complemented by the Trust's well-established and popular Small Grants and Travel Scholarships programmes, and a new programme of EMS Vacation Research Scholarships for veterinary undergraduates wishing to pursue a particular research project during a vacation.
Full details of the individual programmes may be obtained below or by contacting the Trust Office (Tel. 020 7202 0741). Additional copies of the Trust's new "Investing in You" leaflet may also be requested.
The Trust is exhibiting at ESFM Congress in Dublin at the end of September and at BVA Congress in London at the beginning of October, where application packs will also be available.
