RCVS Knowledge to leave Westminster office by end of March 2022
29 November 2021
RCVS Knowledge will be leaving its office on Horseferry Road next year, as a result of the sale of Belgravia House by the RCVS in March 2021.
After the sale, the RCVS chose to lease back the premises to allow its Council to consider fully the future building requirements and how these might be affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
As restrictions eased over the summer and the Government encouraged organisations to return to work, use of the building did resume for some meetings and day-to-day activities, however not to pre-pandemic levels.
In view of this and the fact that it would take time to move into new permanent headquarters, RCVS Council agreed on 11 November 2021 that it made more financial sense to move at the first opportunity under the terms of the existing lease.
Chris Gush, Executive Director of RCVS Knowledge, says: “RCVS Knowledge has been closely involved in discussions relating to the office move from the beginning, and we continue to be as plans going forward. The needs of our Library service and our Archive are paramount at this time, and we are exploring a number of options for us to consider the most effective transition to a new location.
“We will most likely to be looking at a temporary solution before we find our permanent home. We have in our care some extremely rare and unique items for the profession’s history whose safe-keeping we must make one of our top priorities. Likewise, the work of our Library must and will continue during this time. We are factoring all of these complexities into account, and will continue to engage with our staff, colleagues at RCVS and stakeholders closely throughout this time.”
