New and improved Veterinary Evidence journal website

11 January 2023

Veterinary Evidence, our peer-reviewed, open access journal, has launched its new website, offering even better support for busy veterinary professionals and academics looking to improve veterinary care.

The journal, which reaches over 14,000 monthly international users, provides free access to critical summaries of the best available evidence, called Knowledge Summaries, enabling practitioners to make informed evidence-based decisions in practice.

The new website offers several new improved and user-friendly features, such as author and reviewer hubs, which hold all the key information to guide contributors through the process of writing or reviewing papers for the journal.

A new ‘answer me’ button allows potential authors to pick a clinical query they are interested in answering and email it straight to the Editor, streamlining the process. Readers of the journal will also benefit from related articles as suggested further reading, which all count towards their CPD requirements.

The new site also includes a new submission system, Editorial Manager, which streamlines the editorial process, communications with authors and reviewers, and the management of articles.

Kit Sturgess, Editor-in-Chief of Veterinary Evidence, says: “I am really excited by the new website; its look and functionality will significantly improve rapid access to information and further boost the engagement of the veterinary team with EBVM. After an impressive year for Veterinary Evidence, we have also moved to a new submission system, Editorial Manager, aimed at making the experience of submitting and reviewing papers easier and more efficient. Through the new website and publishing platform, the journal can get better metrics of how well we are supporting our readers, authors, and reviewers so we can use evidence to drive Quality Improvement.”

Written by and for the veterinary professions, Veterinary Evidence also became a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in 2021, for its continued commitment to the highest standards of publication ethics.

Clare Boulton, Head of Library and Knowledge Services at RCVS Knowledge, says: “Veterinary Evidence offers an easy way to access evidence-based content and apply it in practice, so we are delighted to help improve the experiences of all authors, reviewers and readers that engage with the journal.”

Veterinary Evidence is an online, open access, peer-reviewed journal that publishes content relating to evidence-based veterinary medicine (EBVM) and its application in veterinary practice to enhance the quality of care provided to patients. The journal provides a platform for a wide range of veterinary topics from economics to Quality Improvement, clinical practice, and teaching, to help the international veterinary community.
