New QI Boxset series on clinical audit
30 November 2021
The second series of RCVS Knowledge’s free educational course ‘QI Boxset’ launches today, covering clinical audits and the benefits they bring to teams, clients, and animals.
The series, which is designed to support all practitioners with implementing Quality Improvement (QI) in practice, is particularly relevant to Practice Standards Scheme (PSS) accredited practices, due to the significant updates to the requirements that were announced earlier in 2021.
The QI Boxset is one way in which RCVS Knowledge are supporting practices to meet the PSS requirements. The series contains three episodes, covering: starting out with audit, carrying out audits, and real case examples of teams who have utilised audits in their practice. Any member of the practice team can access the free bite-sized content, which contains webinars, podcasts, and reading resources, and can be completed in the suggested running order, or users can select the content that is most relevant to their needs.
David Ashcroft, Lead PSS Assessor at the RCVS, said, “I am delighted to hear of the launch of the next series of the QI Boxset. The latest update to the Practice Standards Scheme has reflected the value and importance of clinical audit by including it at General Practice level, so a lot more practices may wish to seek guidance. RCVS Knowledge remains the perfect place to start, and the Boxset is an extremely user-friendly resource.”
The first series of QI Boxset launched in July 2021, covering how to establish a Quality Improvement structure in practice. According to research commissioned by RCVS Knowledge and conducted by RAND Europe, a lack of time and know-how prevents veterinary professionals from engaging with QI. The QI Boxset aims to tackle this by providing easily accessible, quick, and informative content that is specifically targeted at busy veterinary professionals in practice.
Pam Mosedale, QI Clinical Lead at RCVS Knowledge, said, “The RCVS Knowledge team have been working hard on producing these free resources to support veterinary teams, and I am delighted that the series is now available. The benefits that clinical audits bring to practice is massive, but we understand it may seem difficult to know where to start. This series features a huge number of resources from teams who have identified the benefits of clinical audit for themselves, and we hope they will be both useful and inspiring. We would like to extend a huge thank you to all the contributors.”
The series can be accessed on RCVS Knowledge’s Learn platform.
