High attendance at RCVS Question Time in Cheltenham
16 May 2006
RCVS Officers visited Cheltenham on Tuesday 9 May 2006 to meet over 60 local veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses and practice staff and debate hot topics at the regional Question Time meeting.
Guests were treated to a buffet supper in pleasant surroundings at the Cheltenham Park Hotel, before hearing a short introduction from President Lynne Hill on the latest news from the RCVS and key developments within the profession.
A range of questions, which were submitted prior to the meeting, were then discussed in detail by the panel and guests during the Q&A session. A number of topical veterinary issues were covered including supply and dispensing of medicines, prescription charging and the Guide to Professional Conduct.
Following the success of last year's meeting in Belfast, veterinary nurses were once again invited to the meeting, and a good range of veterinary nursing issues were raised and debated by representatives from the RCVS. There was an opportunity at the end of the meeting for guests to ask additional questions and gain advice and information from the panel.
Lynne Hill commented that it was encouraging to see so many people attend and stay behind after the meeting to relax and have a drink with colleagues. Feedback from guests indicated that they would be keen to attend further, more regular meetings in their area and had found the meeting to be enjoyable and a good opportunity to meet RCVS Officers face-to-face.
