Sporting fans will be able to enjoy their passion for rugby while supporting the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Trust at a Lunch with international rugby player Rory Underwood MBE, on Tuesday 25 November.
Held at the world-famous Twickenham Stadium, guests will enjoy a drinks reception, three-course lunch and talk from the international sportsman about his rugby exploits.
Rory’s successful career includes scoring a record 49 tries for England and winning 6 caps for the British Lions, touring Australia in 1989 and New Zealand in 1993. Additionally, Rory played first class rugby at Leicester Tigers for 14 years and was awarded the MBE in 1992 for his services to rugby.
The event is being held as part of the Trust’s Golden Jubilee celebrations and £100,000 fundraising campaign for educational and animal welfare projects.
Guests who book early will also have the option to visit the World Rugby Museum, home to the finest collection of rugby memorabilia in the world, and follow in the footsteps of sporting heroes, taking a behind-the-scenes tour of the famous Stadium, visiting the England team dressing room and areas of the stadium not normally accessible to the public. Places on the Stadium and Museum Tour are limited and on a first come first served basis.
Chair of the RCVS Trust Board of Trustees, Stephen Ware, commented: “I am very much looking forward to this event. It will be a unique opportunity for rugby fans to enjoy a drinks reception and lunch with an international player at the home of England rugby. I think it’s an excellent way to raise funds for the Trust and continue the hard work of this small but ambitious charity.”
Tickets are £75 per person and a discount will be offered for groups of 10 people who book a complete table for lunch. Drinks are available from 12 noon and lunch will be served at 1pm followed by the talk from Rory Underwood and a fundraising raffle. The first 40 tickets sold will include free entrance to the Stadium and Museum Tour at 10:30am (usual price £10). The event will finish at approximately 4pm.
