Are you a farm vet or member of a farm vet team wanting to play your part in building the evidence base for the responsible use of antibiotics in the ruminant sectors?
At this workshop, Fiona Lovatt, sheep vet and RCVS Knowledge Clinical Lead for Medicines, will lead sessions that will guide you on how to make small, but meaningful changes to the ways you collect data on antibiotics both within your practices and out on farm, as you engage with your farmer, shepherd, and herdsmen clients.
What will you learn?
- Prepare your practice team and client base for compliance with imminent farm assurance expectations.
- Future-proof your medicine data handling procedures to be ready in case future trade requires government to re-align UK legislation with the EU.
- Work together with your practice team members to set goals and monitor progress, at your own pace and bespoke to the needs of your own colleagues and clients.
- Join a community of proactive farm vet professionals who want to work together to advocate for evidence-based responsible antibiotic use.
- Help to maintain the reputation of our UK red meat and milk industries by working with clients to report their antibiotic data.

- Learn how and why you need Medicine Hub to ensure your beef and sheep farmers are Red Tractor-inspection-ready.
- Had the chance to feedback to the Medicine Hub team about how they can help you.
- Explored the Farm Vet Champion SMART goal platform and set goals that are specific, measurable, achievable and realistic in your practice setting.
Who will the workshop be led by?
Fiona Lovatt – Fiona Lovatt is the Clinical Lead for Farm Vet Champions at RCVS Knowledge. She has a passion for proactive veterinary involvement on UK sheep farms, particularly enthusing both vets and sheep farmers to interact better through proactive individual flock health planning and Flock Health Clubs. Fiona runs Flock Health Ltd, a sheep veterinary consultancy business (www.flockhealth.co.uk) that works collaboratively with vets, farmers, processors, retailers and pharmaceutical companies, primarily in the UK but also further afield. She is an RCVS Recognised Specialist in Sheep Health and Production, a diplomate of the European College of Small Ruminant Health Management and works, on a very part-time basis, as a clinical associate professor at the University of Nottingham. Fiona is a past president of the Sheep Veterinary Society and currently chairs the UK Sheep Antibiotic Guardian Group, having represented the sheep industry on the RUMA Targets Task Force since 2016. Fiona is a trustee of the Veterinary Christian Fellowship and lives in a beautiful part of rural northern England with her husband and three children, not to mention the dog, two pigs and three hens!- Colleagues from the Medicine Hub team, Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB)
