Daniel Fletcher, PhD, DVM, DACVECC
RECOVER Initiative Co-chair

Daniel FletcherDr. Fletcher has been on the faculty of the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine since 2006. After receiving a BS in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University and a PhD in Bioengineering from the University of California Berkeley/San Francisco, he obtained his DVM from the University of California at Davis. He then completed a rotating internship and emergency and critical care residency at the University of Pennsylvania. He has received multiple teaching awards, including the 2020 Zoetis Distinguished Teaching Award and is co-chair of the RECOVER Initiative, which published the first evidence-based veterinary CPR guidelines. His research interests include disorders of fibrinolysis, epilepsy, and the use of immersive simulation in teaching. He has been building simulators for veterinary education since 2009 and opened the Tetlow and Roy Park Innovation Lab, an immersive simulation centre at Cornell in the fall of 2015.

Image of event speaker Kenichiro YagiKen Yagi has been practicing in the veterinary field since 2000 obtaining his RVT in 2008 and certifying as a Veterinary Technician Specialist in Emergency and Critical Care in 2011 and Small Animal Internal Medicine in 2013. He has obtained his master’s degree in Veterinary Science through the University of Missouri in 2017. As an active educator and VTS he has contributed to the development of training methods and application of the RECOVER guideline in practice. He has been serving as the program director for the RECOVER Initiative since 2017, developing the certification process and international instructor network to establish an evidence-based standard for veterinary CPR worldwide. Ken is currently employed at the Park Innovation Lab at Cornell as the Veterinary Education Simulation Laboratory Manager.

Ken invites everyone to ask “Why?” to understand the “What” and “How” of our field, and to constantly pursue new limits as veterinary professionals and individuals.

Racheal Marshall RVN CertVN (ECC)

Image of event speaker Racheal MarshallRacheal qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2003 whilst working in a busy general practice where she remained for the next 3 years as Senior Nurse.  After a short period working as a Lecturer in Veterinary Nursing & Animal Management she returned to nursing as an Emergency & Critical Care nurse working for Vets Now in 2008.  Racheal achieved the Veterinary Nursing Certificate in Emergency and Critical Care in 2011 and is a certified RECOVER instructor, she took up her current position as Head of Clinical Nursing at Vets Now in 2014.

Amelia Poole, DipAVN (sa) DipFB CertFN CertVN(ECC): RCVS Knowledge QI Project Officer

Amelia Poole

Amelia joined RCVS Knowledge as a Project Officer in Quality Improvement in 2019. She is a Registered Veterinary Nurse who previous to this role worked in practice for 11 years. She worked at a variety of privately owned hospitals, as well as rescue centres, concentrating on intensive inpatient care and emergency and critical care. She has a Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing (medical) and feline behaviour along with a certificate in Emergency and Critical Care and feline nursing. She is currently studying towards her top-up degree.

She has always been passionate about EBVM and Quality Improvement within practice to offer patients the best possible care.
