The Equine Veterinary Education recently featured an editorial from Brennen McKenzie on evidence-based veterinary medicine, saying "The scientific literature must be accessible to be useful, so EBVM proponents encourage open access publishing models." There is a growing repository of open access and free access resources.

Open access resources are those which provide free content which can be read online, downloaded, copied and distributed as they are free of most copyright and licensing restrictions. Free resources are also available to read for free, but may not be distributed, adapted or reproduced without permission from the copyright holder.
