Skills Day tickets on sale

4 August 2017

Quality Improvement in Practice is the topic for this year’s Skills Day, hosted by RCVS Knowledge on 15th November in London.

Skills Day 2017The event, the second of its kind since the inaugural Skills Day in 2015, will explore how the principles of quality improvement (QI) can be applied to every day veterinary care.

Through a series of presentations, workshops and plenary sessions, attendees will get the chance to see real life examples of successful quality improvement and learn techniques for incorporating QI into practice.

“Quality improvement is of growing importance to veterinary practice,” explained Bradley Viner, Chair of RCVS Knowledge’s QI Advisory Board.

“A staple of evidence-based veterinary medicine, QI allows us to analyse performance, make changes and provide further excellent care to our patients.

“This year’s Skills Day will introduce the concept and demonstrate how everyone involved with practice can play a part.”

RCVS Knowledge will officially launch its Quality Improvement Project on the day, revealing an e-learning resource for practitioners who want to implement QI in their practice. The free-to-access platform will contain modules – covering topics such as how to carry out a clinical audit – guidelines and downloadable checklists that make the process quick and efficient.

A range of awards and bursaries for individuals and practices demonstrating excellence in quality improvement will also be announced.

The event takes place at Mary Sumner House in Westminster and is anticipated to run from 10am until 4pm, allowing those coming from further afield to arrive in the morning, attend the event and enjoy an evening in the capital before the London Vet Show the following day.

As part of Knowledge’s commitment to making evidence and quality improvement available to all, tickets for the Skills Day are capped at £95.

Three bursaries – covering tickets and including a contribution to travel costs to and from the event – are available to practice managers, veterinary nurses, and veterinarians in their first five years of practice.
